Things to do in Baltimore

Fort McHenry Maryland has a long and rich history and part of that history is kept alive inside Fort Mchenry. This wonderful National Monument is a historic Shrine that played a large part in making hour nation what it is today. The fort has be converted into a national park where guest can take a self-guided tour that lets guest explore at their own pace. The fort which was called the star fort because of its 5 point construction was built between the years of 1799 and 1802 which was surprising for me because I thought it would have taken longer to create a fort of such size. Another really amazing aspect of visiting the fort is the cannons. You can walk right up and get close and personal with the cannons which protected our nations coast from countless invaders. The fort is a great place to visit and has lots to offer. Admission is just 7 bucks for adults and kids get in for a little cheaper. Once inside the visitors center is your first stop and there is a short 10 minute video that gives lots of rich history about the fort. It’s played every 30 minutes, and is really worth the time. It typically takes about an hour to tour the forth but it really depends on you. It’s a great time and a place that is perfect for teaching kids about the rich history our country has.

Where to eat in Baltimore

Gertrude's Restaurant If there is one thing that you need to eat while visiting Baltimore its seafood. Maryland has some of the best seafood of anywhere and its clearly evident in the local restaurants. Just take a drive down any main street and you are bound to see at least one or two seafood restaurants. One of my favorite places to dined was actually at the Baltimore Museum of Art. I went in just to explore the museum but as we walked around and enjoyed the wonder full artwork I could not help but take in the wonderful smells of Gertrude’s Restaurant. It’s a truly exceptional seafood restaurant that is right in the museum. As you could expect from a restaurant inside a museum each and every plate of food was a work of art. It was beautiful and pleasing to look at and delicious to eat. Each and every bite of food was an explosion of flavor. The Freshness in the food was really surprising it was as if the fish was caught and cooked within hours of it being placed on my plate. Seafood isn’t their only specialty Gertrude’s is considered to be Chesaeake Cuisine or what I like think is American Seafood. The lunch menu consists of items like Hampton Roads BBQ pork, Fire-Roasted Mushroom Melt, and Grilled Cheddar Cheese & Soup. Its large selection of items that are both homey and classic at the same time. It’s a perfect place to bring that special someone for a romantic night.
