Mississippi Children’s Museum If you have little ones the Mississippi Children’s Museum will be a great family memory for years to come. The museum has five sections that will help you teach your children about Mississippi in a way that they will enjoy. The first section is called Exploring Mississippi Gallery which teaches them about Mississippi’s heritage. The next is the World at Work Gallery that talks about Mississippi’s different industries. After that there are also the Healthy Fun Gallery, the Wild About Reading Gallery, and The Express Yourself Art Gallery. The museum is open Tuesday thru Saturday from 9am until 5pm, Sundays 1pm until 6pm and closed on Mondays. Admission is $8.00 each; children under 12 months of age get in free. The Mississippi Children’s Museum is located off I-55 at exit 988 on Highland Drive. The Red Rocket Café is located inside the museum on the top floor and has the same hours as the museum and has reasonable prices with all of kid’s favorites, so there is no need to feed your children before coming. The museum is also a great place to have birthday parties that both the children and parents will enjoy, prices vary due to party size and museum membership. The museum also hosts an array of other types of parties for which you can rent out the whole facility such as weddings, receptions, cocktail parties, engagement parties, family reunions, corporate retreats, conferences, and baby showers. Walker’s Drive In Walker’s Drive In is a must if you’re in Jacksonville’s art district. The casual atmosphere makes it great for the whole family to come and relax but Chef Derek Emerson’s upscale dishes make the food something that the entire family will be talking about for ages. All deserts are eight dollars are not something you can get anywhere else with their heath bar tiramisu or their decadent Tres Leches with pineapple chutney. Walker’s catering is also great for large family reunions offering a catered lunch or dinner menu. Walker’s Drive In has dishes that can’t be found anywhere else like their BBQ Fired Oysters served with warm brie and homemade apple slaw or a personal favorite the crab, artichoke and parmesan crusted flounder.
