A Grand Canyon Adventure Part One
My kids have been asking me for months if we can visit the Grand Canyon on there next school break and at first I wasn’t to interested in the idea of driving all that way but I know how my girls are they will not stop bugging me until I give in. I had to do some quick research to see how long it would take to drive from Orlando Florida to the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. The drive it self is about 2,187 miles so it would take an entire day plus 11 hours just to make it to the historical park so I knew that I had to make sure I rented a minivan so we weren’t uncomfortable. I was able to get an awesome rate on a vehicle although I was not able to get a minivan the Dollar rental location that I went to was able to give me a great deal on a 2010 Cadillac Escalade it was a smokey grey color and it was fully equipped with all the bells and whistles I mean this thing had some sick wheels they were 26 inch rims and there color was all black I felt that this SUV was mine I swear I didn’t want to return it but I wasn’t trying to get arrested for stealing a rental. Surprisingly the ride was not as bad as I thought because we started to head out of Orlando very early it must have been 2 in the morning and the roads were very empty I had the girls set up very comfortable in the back with there pillows and some leg room of course to relax we also brought our dogs because we didn’t want them to miss out on the family road trip. While we were on the road we called in to make reservations at a hotel that was very close to the Grand Canyon the one reason why we chose this place was because it was pet friendly and we heard that they book pretty quickly. We were able to book a family suite and to our surprise they have dog sitters that would actually take care of our dogs when we go on our tour of the Grand Canyon of course you would have to pay a little extra for this service but it is worth it. So anyway we finally make it to the Grand Squire Inn and it was amazing the check in process was very quick and they helped us with our luggage and they had dog kennels in the suite for us as well, my wife noticed a supermarket along the way and she wanted to get some groceries for our stay because our suite came with a full kitchen she figured we could save some money by her just cooking in the suite even though I wanted to make sure we ate out at least once.
