Things to do
in Springfield
-
Dr. Seuss National
Memorial

Located in the middle of the
Springfield museums, is the Dr. Seuss National Memorial. Springfield
is where Theodor Seuss Geisel was born, and Springfield is where a
majority of his work was inspired. In Memory of the great Dr. Seuss,
his step daughter, Lark Grey Dimond-Cates created 6 different bronze
sculptures of his most memorable works, there's Yertle the turtle,
Horton and Thing 1 and 2, the Lorax, the Grinch and Max, Thidwick
the big hearted moose, and of course Dr. Seuss and the famous Cat in
the Hat.

Forest Park Zoo
Located in Forest park one of the
Zoo's main goal is to promote public awareness and appreciation for
indigenous and exotic animals. The Zoo helps educate about the
animals and inhabit the protection for threatened and endangered
species. At the Zoo there are hundreds of animals at the 735 acre
zoo with a variety of different species, from spider monkeys to
donkeys. Bring the little ones for some hands on fun with the
Barnyard exhibit where they can pet and play with the animals. Its
great for the whole family.
