Delaware Art Museum
The Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington, Delaware houses over 12,000 works of art, after being founded in 1912 by the Wilmington Society of Fine Arts to honor artist Howard Pyle, a local illustrator and writer of young people's books; concentrating on American art and illustration dating from the 19th century to the 21st, along with the English pre-Raphaelite movement of the mid 19th century. Delaware Museum of Natural History
John Eleuther du Pont founded this excellent museum of natural history in Greenville, Delaware in 1957, and has become well known for its marvelous collections of bird eggs, seashells and birds; and is the oldest natural history museum in the state. John would begin creating a personal collection of seashells, bird eggs and birds when he was yet a child, eventually writing numerous books on birds and would become interested in opening a museum for natural history. Henry Francis du Pont would donate some land across from Winterthur for the museum to sit, as John's request, and the opening would be well attended by some 200 du Pont family members and representatives from other northeastern natural history museums. The museum's collection started with a million seashells and 100,000 bird eggs, that would be used by scientists to measure the pesticide contamination of wild species in their early ecological studies. It would be enlarged to accommodate more exhibits about Charles Darwin, dinosaurs and mammals. It houses magnificent dioramas with life-sized dinosaurs, an African watering hole, a jungle scene with jaguar and a large diversity of shells and birds from across the world. Presently, it permanent displays include; Dinosaur gallery, Hall of Mammals, Shell gallery, Hall of Birds, Nature Nook, Animal adaptions, Darwin and Evolution, Giant squid, butterfly garden and the Larry Scott nature trail. It has grow extensively such opening and the years continue to add more significant and outstanding displays that provide visitors with a well rounded example of the natural history of the state and surrounding region.

George Read II House
The Read House in New Castle, Delaware sits close by the Delaware River, just three miles south of the Delaware Memorial Bridge, constructed in 1801 by the son of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, the house is more a mansion of considerable splendor, especially for the period. It is a 22 room house, 14,000 square feet, which would be the largest house in the state when completed, and would cost George Read Jr. or the Second, almost $12,000 at the time, which would have been about $2.5 million if built today. The family's rooms are spacious and elaborate, especially if compared to the servants quarters, kitchen and laundry rooms; even though young George became quite interested in new technology that included a unique set of hot-air roasting ovens and steam tables in his kitchen. In the Roaring 20s, numerous rooms in the mansion would be redecorated by the Laird family and include a formal dining room with hand-painted wallpaper that depicts scenes from New Castle, and a tap room that was decorated like a German rathskellar. The house would be rejuvenated and re-furnished in 1986 to look like it had originally, using a large amount of documentation, making it one of the finest house museum in the United States. The beautiful garden would be created by the second owner, William Cooper, in 1847, and after a century and a half, it is still considered to be one of the finest and oldest surviving gardens in the area. It would be featured in an issue of House and Garden in 1901, as being quite old and worthy to note, spread across an acre and a half, and divided into three areas; with a big fruit orchard, formal parterre flower garden, specimen garden filled with exotics and native favorites and a kitchen garden with alees of pear trees and trellised grapes set beside formal boxwood hedges.
