Things to do in Wilson

Imagination Station Science Museum When traveling with the family and especially when traveling with kids it is always hard to find things that are both educationally and fun. We often times end up at a science museum they are a great source of knowledge and are a wonderful place to entertain the kids and they are learning at the same time which is always good. While in Wilson North Carolina we found the Imagination Station Science Museum and used it to break up a full day’s worth of driving. It took under 2 hours to go through the entire museum and only costs $5 for both adults and kids. Making it a great pick both for fun and on the wallet. The science museum is open Monday- Saturday from 9 in the morning to 5 in the evening. The exhibits that the museum have to offer are awesome too. They are interactive and really bring the kids into the action. One of the exhibits is Race the Wild, in this exhibit kids get to pick an animal they think is going to win the race then see a virtual race go off. Its designed to teach kids how fast different animals can move. It includes animals like turtles, lions, cheetahs, and even horses. A few of the other exhibits are Animal collections, mega mouth, pulleys, Levers, and a lot more.

What to eat in Wilson

The Beermastor Inn If you happen to ask a local of Wilson where to get a good steak there is only going to be 3 words that come to their lips and that is “The Beefmastor Inn”. It isn’t your normal upscale restaurant that serves 50 dollar steaks but instead just cooks good food. It’s a family owned and operated business and has been since its opening in 1966. It was founded by Roscoe Joyner and his wife Mildred. It was their dream to open a restaurant and it came through and they kept it alive through all of the economic hardships over the decades. Until it was time to retire and they sold the business to long time family friend Len Lew in the 80’s. Lew and his Wife Laura kept the tradition alive serving the best steaks and baked potatoes that could be found in the state and a salad bar was even added as well. In July of ’07 it was sold to an employee who had 18 years of experience working at the BeefMaster Inn. Chad and his wife Misty run the Beefmastor Inn and are committed to the vision that the original owners started and are daily creating the best steak dishes in town. Prices today are great and the food is always fresh and never frozen. The Steaks come straight from a local farm and cut by hand daily.
