Harold Washington Library
Opening first in 1991, the Harold Washington Library raised the bar
as a state-of-the-art facility in style, collections and
beauty. Soaring 10 levels above the street, the Library boasts it's
Neo-Classical style columns, vaulted ceilings, and winter gardens at the
top. With two million books and close to fourteen thousand periodicals, touring
the shelves will fulfill the whim of the casual and avid reader. Teat
yourself to a bite to eat at the Beyond Words Cafe which serves a light lunch
and beverages while browsing through the facility.

Chicago Board of Trade
Housed in an impressive art deco building is the world's largest
exchange center. Trading from the fifth floor can be watched by visitors as
frenzied traders trade futures and options with cryptic gestures back and
forth. Viewing of a small film as well as a museum are now available which
offer more information regarding stock options, futures and
business trading. Look for the "Roman goddess of harvest" Ceres that not
only is presented as an aluminum statue on the roof but also a deco art
painting of the goddess has been located in the atrium.
