Mark Twain House

a must see is the Mark Twain House. The Mark Twain House is
one of Hartford's most popular landmarks. Visitors of all ages

Connecticut... This large, spacious, nineteen room, Victorian
mansion was the home of the legendary author Samuel Clemens also
known as Mark Twain from 1874 to 1891. In this very house is
where Samuel Clemens wrote his greatest works including; The
Adventures of Tom Sawyer and the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
This beautiful National Historic Landmark features stunning interior
decor designs by Louis Comfort Tiffany displaying amazing, elaborate
stenciling and carved woodwork. See where Clemens wrote
most of his works in the Billiard Room or perhaps see the bed that
is carved of angels where Clemens slept. Mark Twain's House contains
over 50,000 items that belonged to the famous author and his family.
Guided tours are available for visitors to see the restored kitchen
wing & butler's pantry allowing visitors a chance to see and
experience the rooms as Clemens servants did. The Museum
Center is a great place for learning and seeing various galleries
along with Ken Burns documentary. There is also a large Museum
Store featuring Twain memorabilia, great gifts for the reader &
writer and a large selection of books by and about Mark Twain.
