Crystal Bridges Museum
The Crystal Bridges Museum of
American Art complex is now under construction and is surrounded by
100 acres of beautiful Arkansas woodlands. The plan is to build a
premier national art facility that is devoted to American art and
its artists, as well as learning and community gatherings, all in a
marvelous setting that is more than conducive to the arts and
culture. The name has been gleamed from the special glass and wood
structures that were designed by the world renowned architect Moshe
Safdie and will eventually contain a 100,000 square foot of
buildings that will house the gallery, offices, meeting rooms, great
hall, library, places for outdoor concerts and show, plus many
sculptures and walking trails. The center hopes to expand the
horizons of culture, art, learning resources and help with the
advancement of the area's economic development. The gallery will
hold 35,000 square feet of artworks from the masters, American
artists and Native American art, with the permanent collection
continuing to grow with sculptures and paintings by American artists
that span from the colonial period to the modern day. All of this
venue is set within a pristine forested area that blends the
creation of men and women with the natural settings created by God.
Some of the well known artists include Thomas Eakins, Jasper Francis
Cropsey, Gilbert Stuart, Asher B. Durand, Geradus Duyckinck, Charles
Wilson Peale, Francis Buy, Charles Bird King, Samuel F. B. Morse,
