National Historic Trails Interpretive Center
Gives modern travelers an idea of what life on the
"road" was like to the emigrants who passed through here in the
mid-1800s on the Oregon, Mormon, California, and Pony Express
trails. Exhibits cover the pioneer story from the packing of the
wagons to the ferrying of the rivers.
Tate Mineralogical Museum
You can see a vast collection
of Wyoming jade, a variety of minerals, and meteorites here. The
Tate also has a section on dinosaur excavations from the Natrona
County area.
Nicolaysen Art Museum and Discovery Center
At the Nicolaysen Art Museum
and Discovery Center works range from traditional Western to
contemporary. The Discovery Center is a hands-on self-guided studio
with about a dozen stations, some often related to the current
exhibits, where participants of all ages can create their own art.
Fort Caspar Museum and Historic Site
Today the site includes the reconstructed fort
buildings furnished as they would have appeared in 1865 -- the mess
hall, telegraph hall, officers' quarters, store, blacksmith shop,
stables, commissary. There's also a modern museum featuring exhibits
on the social and natural history of central Wyoming.
Casper Planetarium
This planetarium offers a multimedia jaunt into
space, with changing programs ranging from a basic exploration of
the night sky to trips through the solar system. The planetarium
also offers telescope-user workshops, instruction on how to build
your own rocket, and lectures. There are hands-on science displays
and exhibits of meteorites, plus a gift shop.
Wyoming Symphony Orchestra
The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra has performed
continuously since 1948 with roots reaching back to the early part
of the century. The orchestra frequently is joined by nationally
known guest artists, as well as the Civic and Children's Chorales.
West Wind Gallery
The Casper Artists' Guild is a non-profit
organization. The members operate, show and sell their works at the
West Wind Gallery.
Casper Mountain
Casper Mountain offers skiing, Nordic cross
country ski trails, snowmobiling and dog sledding opportunities -
all within a twenty-minute drive from downtown Casper.

Casper Municipal Golf Course
This varied terrain, 18 hole, public course
features many trees and bunkers. Other features of the golf
course include a driving range, putting green, chipping area,
practice bunker, and food and beverages are served at this course.
Casper Ice Arena
The Casper Ice Arena offers public skating,
"Learn-to-Skate" classes, figure skating, hockey, special events,
birthday parties, and private rentals.
Casper Planetarium
The Casper Planetarium offers programs providing
audiences with an unique multi-media encounter with space and
astronomy related subjects. The programs range from the latest
frontiers of astronomical research to astronomy's earliest roots.
Painted Past 'Living History Tours'
The Painted Past ' Living History Tours are
downtown candlelight walking tours of the 1890's and a Sand Bar Tour
of the 1920-1939 notorious era. The tours are presented by
professional actors in authentic costumes telling true stories of
Casper's past and traces of the trails emigrant diaries story.
Casper Nordic Center
The area takes up approximately 42 miles of
groomed trails for both classical and and modern skating styles.
Wyoming Science Adventure Center
The Wyoming Science Adventure Center is Casper's
only children's science museum which features hands-on science
displays. Guaranteed to spark the interest of kids of all ages.
Flying B Outfitters
The Flying B Outfitters offers big game hunting,
state and national parks, and tours by means of 4-wheel drive, foot,
and horseback
Wyoming Cavalry
The Wyoming Cavalry, which is a member of the
National Indoor Football League, holds its home games between March
and June in the Casper Events Center.
Stage III Community Theatre
Since the Stage III Community Theatre opened in
1980, the Community Theatre has showcased Casper talent in a wide
variety of shows. Auditions are always open to the public.
Independence Rock and Devil's Gate
Independence Rock and Devil's Gate were both
famous landmarks for pioneers traveling to the west. You will find
many travelers' names carved in the "Great Register of the Desert." |
