For-Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum

• Whaley Historical House Museum
  Is open year round the Whaley Historical House Museum offers visitors the opportunity to discover Flint's past and learn about the people and places that forever shaped and changed the community of Flint.  The Whaley House Museum remains today as a historical landmark.  Robert Whaley and his wife Mary McFarlan Whaley lived in the Whaley Historical House Museum from 1885 to 1925.  Over the years other family members that lived in the Historical House Museum included Mr. and Mrs. Whaley's daughter Florence, Florence's son Robert Orrell and Mr. Whaley's half-sister Laura.  In addition to the Whaley family several servants lived in and on the grounds of the Whaley Historical House  Museum over the years including the family pets that included dogs, cats and birds.  Robert and Mary Whaley were very prominent in their community.  For over forty years Mr. Whaley was the president of Citizens Bank, he issued a loan to William C. Durant and J.
