The Carillon Historical Park in Dayton, Ohio is a 65 acre park and museum that houses historic structures and displays that showcase the history of technology and the city, as well as its residents from 1796 to the current day. The historical aspects of the park were the result of Colonel Edward Deeds, with the main sections dealing with industry, settlement, invention and transportation. The park would merge with the Montgomery County Historical Society in 2005 to create the Dayton History. The Kettering Family Education Center is one of the major exhibits located within the park and showcases displays that change regularly in the National City Exhibit Gallery, as well as a gift shop, a video about the park and snack shops. The park has numerous rooms for educational presentations as well, and the John W. This magnificent artifact was restored from 1948 to 1950 and had the first consultation given by Orville Wright himself before he passed on in 1948. Other significant exhibits include the Newcom Tavern, that was the 1796 home of Colonel George Newcom and his family, that is the oldest house in the city, the Locus Grove School that had been a one room schoolhouse used for more than three decades after being built in 1896 and the William Morris House that was built in 1815 of stone. The Deeds Barn showcases the invention of a Liberty aircraft engine, a 1912 Cadillac with Delco electric system and an early Frigidaire refrigerator and a 1930s working printing shop. The park would be named after the 151 foot tall Deeds Carillon that had been constructed in 1942 and funded by Edward Deeds' wife, Edith Walton Deeds and designed to commemorate the Deeds family. As the tower was being constructed, every one of the 23 bells would be inscribed with the name of a family member, while the silent bells bear the names of deceased family members and the ringing bells would be cast with the names of the family members that were still alive. Presently, the carillon has 53 bells and is the state's biggest.
