Hickories Museum
The Hickories Museum is located in Elyria, Ohio and the home of the Lorain County Historical Society, inside an 1895 mansion that was constructed using the Richardsonian Romanesque style and the Shingle style of architecture. The magnificent interior showcases Tiffany windows, carved faces, a private chapel and six fireplaces. The interior wood styles are gothic and French, using cherry, oak and mahogany to bring out the natural beauty of the wood and the house. The museum interprets the rich lifestyle of a Lorain county family in the turn of the century, constructed for the industrialist Arthur Garford and his family.  Visitors to this gorgeous mansion can take a tour Tuesday through Friday, from 1 PM to 4PM and on Saturday from 1 pm to 3 PM. The woodworking inside this mansion is just excellent, with many areas completely covered by woodworks that showcased the outstanding craftsmanship that carpenters used in that period, with only hand tools, of the barest abilities. The museum also houses birth and baptism records, Bible records, postcards, events, cemeteries, lineage societies, many photographs of people and places, maps of Lorain county and obituaries.

Hauntville
One of the newest and most frightening places to visit in Elyria, Ohio will be opening in October, 2011 when the prisoners in Cell Block 13, one of the three haunted houses in Hauntville, will riot at 6:30 PM, Friday, the 1st of October and threaten to throw off the warden, from the roof. Killjoy Bobby, a psychopathic deranged soul will help take over the building where the warden is planned to be thrown off, if there aren't enough visitors. It sounds a little scary, especially if they throw off the warden, but that is just one of the three haunted houses that this troupe has to offer. The others include Psycho manor, a 1920s Victorian mansion that continues to have ghosts and spirits wandering the halls and rooms, waiting for some unknown visitor to come in and see what the commotion is all about. The other house is called the Dark Abyss and might not be one that you'll want to visit, especially since they haven't told us what is going to be in there other than it is sure to create a large amount of fear and phobia. It is going to be open until halloween, with the majority of their shows happening on Thursdays, and the weekends, from 7 PM until the bewitching hour at midnight. It is going to be one of the scariest places on this earth and if you dare to visit, they guarantee you will not walk away in the condition you arrived in. Visit these haunted houses if you dare, but don't bring your kids unless they are misbehaving and need some discipline, in such a way as to make sure that they never ever do anything wrong again, especially if they know that they could be coming back to the Hauntville tri-plex to learn more about life.

NASA Glenn Visitor Center
The NASA Glenn Visitor Center is located close to Cleveland, Ohio, and showcases six galleries that house interactive displays about NASA, John Glenn, the solar system, space exploration, satellites and other astronauts. It also contains an auditorium for special programs, movies and lectures, along with a marvelous gift shop. The admission is free and an excellent destination for the entire family, although adult visitors must be American and have valid ID photos. The center also provides tours of their research facilities on the first Saturday of every month, with reservations made in advance, so you have your place in the tours assured. When the displays were moved to the science center, it was hoped that by moving them their, more people would visit the center and give more attention to the Glenn Visitor Center; which it did, since the average visitors at the old center would received was around 60,000 and when the move was complete, it would welcome over 330,000, which is quite significant. The center is part of the bigger NASA John H. Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field that would be started in 1942 to become part of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) and then eventually incorporated into the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) that had been opened to become the main laboratory for aircraft engine research.

Peter Miller House Museum
The first permanent settler in Avon Lake was Adam Miller, and his youngest son, Peter, would construct the house that is now called the Peter Miller House Museum in 1830, and it is now one of the last surviving pre-Civil War lakefront house in Lorain County. Inside it is a magnificent E. Carpenter pump organ that is in perfect condition and played during the traditional Monday afternoon summer tours from June to July. The house has two outstanding gardens located next to the house, one on the east side that is a wildflower garden and the other on the west side is an herb garden. The house is next to the Avon Lake boat landing and has been included on the National Register of Historic Places list.
