Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport The Beardsley Zoo is the only zoo in Connecticut State located in Bridgeport. Bridgeport Barnum MuseumBridgeport is the most populous city in Connecticut. It is also the home to the Barnum Museum, a museum located in Bridgeport. The museum has extensive collection of artifacts related to P. T. Barnum and the history of Bridgeport. Completed in 1893, this three story museum is constructed with stone and terra cotta. The architectural influences to the museum range from Byzantine to Romanesque architecture. The exhibition features more than one hundred trees, vintage circus memorabilia and photography, most famous being the Three Ring Circus. Other exhibits include General Tom Thumb’s tiny leather boots and velvet suit, Jenny Lind, themes such as Barnum the Man and Barnum's Bridgeport. The museum celebrates the life of P.T. Barnum through various activities and programs. Bridgeport also has a children’s museum, The Discovery Museum and Planetarium. Located at 4450 Park Avenue, the museum serves as both a tourist destination and an educational resource center. It hosts three creative and traveling exhibits ever year. The goal of the museum is to educate and engage visitors through hands-on science exhibits, education programs, challenger learning center and planetarium presentations. The museum’s planetarium features a 33 feet domes ceiling and accommodate over 120 people. The planetarium projector is capable of displaying over 2500 stars.
