Ocean Realm- this a favorite at the Aquarium here visitors come face to face with amazing sea creatures.  The Ocean Realm features 760,000 gallons of seawater filled with fantastic sea creatures from a 350 pound Loggerhead Sea Turtle, Cownose Stingrays, a school of more than 2,000 Blueback Herring and many other sea creatures.  Visitors will also have the opportunity to see Shark Rays these are extremely rare in any aquarium... In fact, there are less than ten locations in the World with Shark Rays on exhibit.  Shark Rays are native to Indo Pacific waters.  Adventure Aquarium features rare and unusual aquatic animals, Adventure Aquarium is one of two Aquarium's in the country with a Great Hammerhead Shark on exhibit and one of only two Aquarium's in the Continental United States with a Tiger Shark..  Penguin Island- Who doesn't enjoy penguins?   • Newark Museum    Newark Museum
    Is a must see if this is your first trip to Newark.  The Newark Museum houses one of the largest collections of fine art and natural sciences in New Jersey.  When you visit the Newark Museum you will enjoy fine art, a mini zoo featuring one hundred live animals, a planetarium, paintings of anthropological objects such as ritual artifacts and pottery.  Visitors can also look around the historic Ballantine House which is part of the Newark Museum.  Visitors will see period furnishings, artifacts, decorative art items and more.  The Newark Museum offers tours taking visitors back in time to discover the ancient past exploring artifacts from Egypt, Rome and Greece.  For families with younger visitors, you will want to visit Victoria Hall of Science.  Kids will enjoy some educational play time discovering about volcanoes, earthquakes and caves.  There are several interactive exhibits for the kids they will have so much fun they won't even know they are learning many interesting facts.  The Newark Museum features several permanent exhibits including; African Art Galleries- showcases works of art from many cultures including Yoruba of Nigeria.  Highlights of this collection include a towering Epa Masquerade Headdress, a beautiful collection of jewelry from the Congo, silver pendants from Niger, beadwork from South Africa and a stunning suite of gold jewelry from Zanzibar.   The Asian Galleries-  displays one of the most extraordinary collections of Tibetan art in the Western Hemisphere.  The centerpiece of this display is a Buddhist Altar consecrated in 1990 by the 14th Dalai Lama.  American Art Galleries- exhibits one of the best collections of American Art.  Starting in Colonial times and ending in the 21st century, here visitors will have a better understanding of the powerful impact that various artists had on shaping American culture & identity.   This fantastic exhibit has more than 300 works of art in this collection.  Such masterpieces include sculptures & paintings shown together with great works of photography, drawings and decorative arts.  Other highlights of the Museum include: The Alice Ransom Dreyfuss Memorial Garden which is located behind the Museum and is the perfect place to be during the summer months.  This lovely garden is graced by a large variety of trees that were originally planted during the twentieth century.  Next, is the 1784 Old Stone Schoolhouse- this is the oldest, standing school in Newark.  This charming stone Schoolhouse has recently been restored & is great for visitors to learn about the history of the building and school days from long ago.  Last is the Fire Museum- located near the Museum Garden Entrance, the Newark Fire Museum celebrates heroism & dedication of the city's fire fighters.  The Newark Museum invites visitors of all ages to enjoy an unforgettable experiences in the art and natural sciences.  When you visit the Museum plan on spending most of the day there is plenty to see and learn about....
