California Science Center

Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens
Located in the center of the nation's largest city, the Zoo today boasts more
that 1.4 million visitors with more than 1,200 animals. Since 1966 when the Zoo
opened, the zoo has expanded from a few native animals to various endangered
species such as Arabian oryx, Sumatran rhino, Jentink's duker, zebra duker,
yellow-footed rock wallaby, giant eland, gerenuk, etc.. By the 1980's,
the value of the Zoo had surpassed $3.9 million and became a partner of the
Condor Recovery Program. Not only does the Zoo boast some of the most exotic
animals but also has an award winning botanical gardens with more than 800
plant species and 7,400 individual plants. Hosting various programs such as
Family programs, Youth programs, Zoo camp, Community groups, Zoo shows &
